Upper blepharoplasty basically removes excess skin in the upper eyelid. However, there are often other associated alterations whose treatment is essential to achieve a good result, such as:

They appear on the part of the upper eyelid close to the nose. They are treated by removing excess fat from the blepharoplasty incision itself.

It requires careful planning of the amount of skin to be removed on each side to achieve a symmetrical result.

Occurs because the levator muscle of the upper eyelid becomes detached from the tarsus. It is corrected during the blepharoplasty itself by sewing the muscle back to its normal insertion in the tarsus.

The correction of eyebrow ptosis generally involves a different surgery than  blepharoplasty, typically a forehead lift or brow recontourning. If the position of the eyebrows is not properly assessed before the blepharoplasty, it may appear that there is more excess skin on the upper eyelid than there actually is, significantly increasing the risk of post-surgical complications.

Therefore, although it is not an aggressive technique, the assessment before surgery and the planning of the surgery must be completely personal and individualised, as this is the only way to achieve excellence in each treatment.
